Car Owners
Police advise that thieves are targeting
car radios and C.D. players. Avoid attracting the wrong kind of
attention to your car by removing all valuables from sight, lock
everything in the boot or remove it all together. Particularly at this
time of year, remember to close car windows every time you leave your
vehicle unattended.
Mobile Phone Users
Beware - if you get a text message
asking you to call a number beginning with 090 the advice is to delete
the message immediately. Some mobile users have called and later
discover their own number has been effectively stolen, used by another,
resulting in huge phone bills for the owner.
Off Road Motor Cycles
Silly season is here again. This has
been an ongoing problem within the Burdiehouse, Gilmerton and Moredun
areas. Insp. Lesley Clark of Howdenhall Station has taken steps to
address the problem. If you see a motor cycle being used in a public
area, off the road, please telephone Howdenhall Police Station tel: 666
2222. Parents who allow their children to use these bikes should be
aware that it is not only illegal, but a real problem in terms of the
physical safety for their children and for the public.
