Ferniehill Sheltered Housing Complex

On behalf of myself and our tenants I should like to express my appreciation and thanks to everyone who turned up to the Ferniehill Sheltered Housing Summer Fete/Barbecue on 26th May.

The day raised funds so that our tenants can enjoy outings and activities outwith their housing scheme. This scheme houses a large amount of people - without the benefit of a community room. Having funds will help greatly by allowing tenants the opportunity to meet up with their neighbours on bus trips etc., and so lessen their feelings of isolation.

I hope that the people who came to this event (many of whom also helped out by running stalls) enjoyed the day as much as we ourselves did. Special thanks go to the local shops/pubs who - almost without exception - donated gifts to boost the fund. In all, the princely sum of £981 was raised - which was then added to by the Drum Street Branch of The Royal Bank of Scotland - enabling us to round the total up to £1,000!

Thanks also go to the children of The Drama Studio group (run by Julie McDonald - Tel No: 453 3284) who put on a very entertaining and varied show - brilliant! (Watch out for one of their female performers who will be on children’s “Stars in Their Eyes” sometime in July.)

Thank you all again and a special thanks to my friend Jackie - without whom we would never have been able to collect so many items.

Chris Hogg, Warden
