Award for local volunteers

Four local women from the Moredun area, recently attended a special reception at the City Chambers, to pick up an award for services to their community.

Nominated by Ann Burn for their hard work and many years of commitment, Nancy Ainge, Lynn Allan, Jane McMillan and Betty Meechan were invited to attend the celebrations for International Volunteers Week.

The women had no idea about it until they were invited to attend and collect their certificates from Robin Harper MSP.

Ann told the Echo: "Lots of people give up a lot of their time and put a lot of effort into their community. It is great that the opportunity came up and we can thank them for their hard work."
