Liberton youngsters are on the right track

The On-Track club is provided for 16 pupils at Liberton High School. It’s the first club of its kind in Edinburgh. It’s a splendid idea and we’re glad to be part of this.

Our adviser is Judy Gairns and she gives us support with our future decisions. On-Track is a club that helps provide us with a job when we leave High School. It also helps us with our creative and thinking skills, we also have fun and have met new friends.

Judy Gairns is a person we all look up to. We made our own rules that have nothing to do with the inner school. Part of our rules are we must all co-operate and join in with the clubs activities.

If we don’t try and work as a group there are sanctions, such as a yellow card and if we get two yellow cards we are not allowed to take part in the activities, for two weeks.

We go on outings, but have to raise money to go on them. The first two weeks when the group started up, we had a raffle at the on-track launch. This was to celebrate the club’s kick off and we made £38.60.

So as a group we come together as a team and come up with ideas to raise funds. We select charities to support as part of our enterprise activities. On-Track is a fulfilling group and we are looking at a brighter future.

Our future employers will see things such as great co-operation and great abilities.

We all feel more confident and less worried that we will be failing our later jobs. This is all thanks to our friend Judy.
