Bingo Winners

Lucky children from Gilmerton Playgroup hit the jackpot recently, when kind hearted Phil Thomson, Manager of the Royal Bingo in Drum Street offered to sponsor the group.

The playgroup, held in Gilmerton Community Centre from Monday to Friday, was struggling to stay afloat with a small grant from Social Work, parents fees and fundraising.

Committee members decided to write to local businesses in the hope that they could help out.

They were astounded when big hearted Phil came to their rescue with a package of £100 per month and the offer of two fundraising charity nights.

Pictured above are some of the children and parents presenting framed handprints and thank you poem (printed below) to Phil.

Thanks to Royal Bingo and here’s to a bright future!

Handprints left on steamed up windows
Finger prints on clean white doors
Grubby smudges on the paintwork
Muddy footprints
on the floors
But those prints don’t last forever
So we’ve made you some to keep
For the future, when we’re older
Sometimes you can take a peep
To remind you of a chilhood
Spent enjoying
every day
Playing, learning, laughing, singing
Loving life in every way

Given with thanks to the Royal Bingo Club, Gilmerton for their help and support.

From the children at Gilmerton Playgroup.
