More Youth Clubs

A big increase in youth work funding for Cameron House Community Centre has seen an expanded programme for youngsters in Prestonfield, Priestfield and Newington.

Edinburgh Council and City Partnership grants of more than £9,000 has resulted in many more youth clubs, sports groups and arts courses from March this year.

Over 100 children from the area are now accessing these opportunities, improving their learning, skills and health.

Over the next three years Edinburgh Council will invest an extra £5 million in these types of opportunities for children. Every young person in Edinburgh will get the chance to benefit from extra learning chances in sport, drama, homework clubs, computers and the arts.

This should have a positive impact on local vandalism. Following growing concerns, there are now also two community police officers working with young people in the area.
