Building a Brighter Future

Oasis is a community based mental health project providing one to one and group work support and activities for women who are affected by emotional and mental ill health.

The Oasis project is based at Gilmerton Community Centre, 4 Drum Street, Edinburgh.

Oasis have recently secured money from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust and SCVO’s building Brighter Futures Initiative.

As a result, the service will expand its courses and group activities and open them up to women from the neighbouring areas of Dalkeith, Bonnyrig and Eskbank.

Planned courses are Women’s Personal Safety Techniques (starting mid August 2001), Tai Chi as a form of relaxation, Confidence building for women, Anger management and stress and relaxation techniques, Art as a form of healing.

Experienced creche workers provide free cover for women attending sessions.
